UNDERSTANDING LONELINESS
Loneliness is not the inevitable by-product of being alone and is not caused by the absence of people or company. One of the reasons I got into this field of work was because I could be lonely in a room full of people. My journey has involved me realizing that it I was pushing people away, was unwilling to let people close (due to the fear of rejection and getting hurt) and that separation ultimately stemmed from losing connection with my Self.
Healing loneliness starts by acknowledging that there are many times during your daily life that you are alone without being lonely. This is very important to recognise because it means you are not a victim to whether people are around or not and it proves loneliness is not caused by something outside your control. Loneliness is a feeling you create whenever you are resisting being on your own and/or attached to having company, in any given moment. This create an inner conflict that can be calmed by taking your power back through actively choosing to be your own best company, right now, and being open to let love in whenever the opportunity arises in the future. You will find that when you are open, the invitations will come and you will be able to fully embrace and enjoy the next time you are in the company of other people.
